Your Trusted Accountants in Worcester

Severn Accounting was founded because too many businesses were getting generic advice from firms that didn't understand their industry. Professional, approachable, and sector-focused — that's how we work.

Our Story

Ali Jaw founded Severn Accounting because he kept seeing the same problem: small businesses, charities, landlords, and property owners getting one-size-fits-all advice from accountants who didn't truly understand their work. Every sector is different. A construction firm has completely different needs to a charity. A landlord with a growing property portfolio isn't the same as a sole trader. Ali believed every client deserved an accountant who genuinely understood their industry — and that's exactly what Severn Accounting was built to provide.

It started at our Worcester office. Ali had already earned his BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and achieved his Fellowship of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Fellowship of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT) qualifications, but it was the hands-on work — sitting across the table from business owners, solving real problems, and helping clients make confident decisions — that shaped how Severn Accounting operates today. We deliver practical, tailored accountancy services built around each client's needs.

That commitment to professionalism and service has been recognised within the wider accounting profession. In 2019, Ali's AAT Branch received the AAT Branch of the Year Award, and in 2020, Ali received the prestigious AAT Past President Award from then AAT President David Frederick. These achievements recognised not only technical knowledge, but a genuine contribution to the profession. As a member of the AAT Members' Advisory Council (MAC), Ali continues to represent and support the wider accounting community at a national level.

Today, we work from Worcester and Birmingham, supporting clients across the Midlands and UK-wide with professional, approachable, and sector-focused accountancy services. We're advanced certified in QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero, and we specialise in charities, construction, and property. We go deeper in the areas we know best so we can give you better advice, stronger support, and greater peace of mind. The principle hasn't changed since day one: understand your business, support you personally, and help you move forward with confidence.

Our Values

Expertise

ACCA licensed, degree-qualified, and advanced certified in the software your business actually uses. We don't stop learning — because tax law doesn't stop changing.

Personal Service

You'll know your accountant by name, and they'll know your business inside out. No call centres, no being passed around. When you ring us, you speak to someone who knows your file.

Integrity

We'll tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. Fixed fees, no hidden charges, and honest advice — even when the honest answer is "you don't need that service."

Proactive Advice

We don't wait for year-end to spot problems. If there's a tax saving you're missing or a deadline creeping up, we'll flag it. Your accountant should be looking ahead, not just looking back.

Meet The Team

The people behind the numbers. We're a small team by design — it means you always deal with someone senior who knows your business.
